About Atlanta Botanical Garden

Atlanta botanical Garden is botanical garden in United States; it's located in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. First build in 1976 and now have more than 70 employees. Atlanta botanical garden has many focuses such as Advancement, Horticulture, Education, Conservation and research. Now it's lead by Mary Pat Matheson as CEO and President.

History of Atlanta Botanical Garden

In 1973 until 1976 Atlanta was private non-profit garden. In 1979-1980 Ann Lyon Crammond make huge change in history of Atlanta botanical garden He made this garden open to public. Promotional activities such as exhibitions of art and social event started. and in the first three year there are more than 50.000 visitors come to this botanical garden. In 1985 this organization make formal institution and expand the size of garden. There were Fuqua conservatory (1989), Children's Garden (1999), and in 2012 Fuqua Orchid Center was added.

Atlanta Botanical Garden Exhibition

There are many famous exhibition held in Atlanta botanical gardens. in 2003 there are Blockbuster summertime exhibitions, in 2004 there are Chihuly in the Garden exhibition, in 2005 Locomotion in the garden featured G-scale model trains, in 2007 David Rogers big bugs and killer plants exhibitions, in 2008 Sculpture in motion, and in 2009 art choreographed by Nature exhibition. 2010-2013 Atlanta botanical garden focused on expansion of green garden area the tagline is Plants larger than life.

In 2010 Green expansion already done, this project made Atlanta botanical garden twice large than before and at the same time Atlanta BG become more modern garden. the sustainability of garden planed more advance, water saving, art, energy efficient, environmental quality improved. To improve the services for visitor Atlanta botanical garden build Canopy Walk, a 600 ft sky-walk area that allow visitor has sightseeing around the botanical garden with fresh air, sound of animal and beauty natural urban forest in Atlanta Botanical Garden. in 2011 the new innovation provide one million energy efficient LED light bulb make new program called Atlanta Botanical Garden Lights Holiday Night
